An analysis of online discussion by consulting firm New Media Strategies shows that chat about Bush’s Supreme Court pick dropped after early spike of interest; even on liberal sites, dialogue was “primarily neutral” from July 19-Aug. 1. Among developments that piqued most interest were criticism of Roberts by conservative commentator Ann Coulter and a report that Sen. Clinton might back him.  Some liberals, encouraged by Republican stumbles in Schiavo case, argue Democrats can make more progress pressing Roberts on right-to-die issues than on abortion. “It’s the dog that hasn’t barked yet,” says Oakland, Calif., attorney Jon Eisenberg, author of new book “Using Terri: the Religious Right’s Conspiracy to Take Away Our Rights.” Senate vote could come as early as Sept. 22.  Copyright © 2006 Dow Jones & Company, Inc.
