It’s hard to believe that a month has passed since the launch of NMS’ newly redesigned website. After a year of planning, designing, writing and decision making, the launch of the new site marked the close of a huge project for me personally and the start of an even bigger project – motherhood. We joked often throughout the last weeks and months of my pregnancy that there was no way I could possibly go into labor until the website was finished – and given my “type A” personality, there was absolutely no way I was going to leave a project that big undone. Funny how things have a way of coming true!

Rewind a couple of weeks to Friday, January 30th. After a long week of working to get everything finalized, published and ready for the launch of the website, I had taken the afternoon to go for my weekly doctor’s appointment only to receive the news that little baby Neville was very comfortable where he was and showing no signs of budging. Needless to say, with three days to go until my due date and being very uncomfortable, this was not the news I was looking for. That evening, after eating as much spicy food as possible at our favorite El Salvadoran place on Capitol Hill, I returned home and hit the blackberry to answer some last minute pre-launch questions. Ironically, a soon as I finished up a call with Leslie Bradshaw (my website partner) and hit send on my final email for the night, I went into labor! On Saturday, January 31, 2009 two of my largest projects “launched”… my son’s life and the new NMS website! I am so proud of both of these productions and thankful to all of the NMSers who helped get the new site up and running and also provided me with so much support and encouragement over the past 9 months - thank you all!
