You may have used Shazam in a restaurant or a mall to identify a catchy tune that left you humming along or dancing in a dressing room. But after this weekend (and a $32 million push into the TV and movie industry), Shazam may become the go-to app for second screen digital rewards.
Although the National Football League continues to boast the unofficial title as America’s Pastime (sorry, MLB) and the league’s television ratings are off the charts, NFL execs still haven’t figured out how to get fans excited about the Pro Bowl. The league is on the right track as they strive to make their all-star game more accessible to fans.
Mustaches have long been associated with the pillars of awesomeness. Art (Dali), Science (Einstein), Academia (Nietzsche), Private Investigation (Magnum), to name a few. In the past few years, mustache’s have been garnering attention for awesomeness for something new, charitable causes. Movember, combining the slang term for mustache “Mo” and the month of November, is an annual, month-long initiative that raises funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that effect men. The movement began in Australia in 2003 and now has more than one million participants in over 15 countries. In the U.S. specifically, proceeds benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Livestrong.

On September 23, I finally had the chance to step into New York City and experience Blogs With Balls, all thanks to the gracious hosts, Don Povia (HHR Media), Kyle Bunch (RGA) and Chris Lucas (HHR Media). Blogs With Balls is designed for digital sports figures to be able to update the industry on the changing landscape of social media and how content distribution tools are used to reach fans, listeners, readers and more.
Have you ever been so inspired that it's extremely difficult to articulate how you feel?

On behalf of New Media Strategies, I am assisting the social media efforts for Special Olympics International during the World Summer Games in Athens, Greece. I’m specifically covering the Games from a blog NMS created called Change Thru Sport. It is an amazing experience; my heart has been touched so many times it could last a lifetime. The inspiration these athletes provide and what you witness in how it improves their lives is immeasurable.
For our client Ray-Ban, NMS is currently teaming up with GlassNote Records and the award-winning buzz band Two Door Cinema Club to capture Never Hide moments at music festivals around the country this spring and summer. With the Never Hide Ray-Ban brand vision as the backdrop, the band and the NMS production team have been capturing footage from the Ray-Ban cam (sunglasses equipped with a camera) as well as footage from their performances, interviews and other Never Hide moments. The NMS team is then assisting Ray-Ban in distributing the content through various social media outlets including blogs and a Ray-Ban mobile application.
