On Thursday, November 3, Pete Snyder, CEO and Founder of New Media Strategies, the world's first and largest social media marketing agency, rang the Opening Bell at the NYSE. The following day, NMS hosted a full day of conversation on achieving success in social media marketing at the New York Stock Exchange.
"We are thrilled to partner with the world's cradle of capitalism as we seek to bring corporations and consumers closer together through social media," said Pete Snyder. "With so much discussion over the role of finance in the state of the economy, there has never been a better time for Wall Street to inform and communicate with the public."
This marks the first social media-focused event held by the NYSE. The day's events explored social marketing strategy and emerging trends in corporate and political communications. Profiling success stories that have deepened relationships with customers and constituents, social media experts, including Snyder, shared lessons learned, training tips, tools and advice for leveraging social media to build personal brand.
"Relationships are the key to success in this ever changing social and mobile world. It is critical for companies to adapt and learn how to listen, connect and help consumers on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, where they are living their lives online," added Snyder.
Christine A. Varney, former Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division, U.S. Department of Justice, opened with a discussion on "Social Media and Wall Street." Eamon Javers, CNBC Washington Reporter, moderated "How Smart Businesses Are Engaging with Social Media."
