Should companies let their employees blog? We think so.

Should companies let their employees blog? Employee blogging has been a hot topic in the blogosphere, most recently when market research firm Forrester announced its controversial decision to not allow their employees to blog outside of the Forrester site.  So, we thought it would be a good time to hear from NMS Founder & CEO Pete Snyder about NMS’s thoughts on employee blogging:

“We encourage our employees to blog and share their ideas and thoughts anywhere and everywhere they choose because 1) we firmly believe in our employees and their judgment and 2) as pioneers in social media, we firmly believe in the value of social media.

As a social media marketing company it simply makes good business sense for us to have our NMS team members sharing their thoughts and opinions any and everywhere. The more influential our team is, the more influential NMS is and the better we can serve both our industry and our clients. The only thing we ask - is that our employees be real, authentic and transparent - and that they use their best judgment.

When your team knows that you believe in them and have their back - it creates an environment for them to do amazing things.”

NMS encourages our team -- everyone – to blog.  On the NMS blog, and anywhere else. We value creativity, innovation, fresh ideas, and thought leadership, and want to show off the brilliance of our team members everywhere.

And so, we’re proud to have team members displaying that thought leadership and their passions everywhere:   Pine Tree Politics, E.politics, The Next Right, Millennial Marketer, So Good Blog, DTM Power, Mediaite, The Electoral Map, The Marketing Diner, The Movie Banter, Thoughts From Meggie Poo, Orszagasm, Giants 101, Coterie Music Blog, The Wikipedian and many, many more. We provide our team with the tools and training to start their own blogs if they so desire.  And when they create fresh content, we often include it here in the NMS blog as well.

Bottom line, we want our team to build their personal brands – and in turn, they display the unique and diverse range of talent that makes up the NMS team.
