Nice pick-up PO! Hopefully Alex will pick Twitter back up again during the playoff run! Go Caps!

Great piece Patty-O!  I am very unfamiliar with the twitter world, but this gave me some insight into it.  The malkin-ovie feud has unfortunately ended… I was really looking forward to some more drama (read: cheap shots/hit).
Good luck getting past the Flyers this year, we got your number.

ovie needs to get an iphone… great column, pat!

I agree with you implicit criticism of the PR-typed responses on twitter.  Part of the genius of Shaq’s twitter personality is that the posts have terrible spelling and grammar and often come in the middle of the night when Shaq can’t sleep. And on top of the authenticity in the misspellings, his posts tread into territory that you wouldn’t expect (how bad his team is playing, how he thinks kobe should be mvp, etc).

Speaking of reaching out to fans, what about the WashingtonPost article yesterday about the inauthenticity of Michael Phelps’s response?!  Imagine a direct-to-the-people twitter response from Phelps?!

Awesome post! Such a cool and smart move by the NHL and the caps… and awesome that OV was up for it as well. If we could just teach him a different slang word for cool other then sick, we’d be good to go.

The only thing funnier than watching that caveman talk about hockey on TV would be to read his insight to everyday life…. I think you need to post that awesome pic of Ovie trashed in the short cutoff jeans.

Great post. Apparently Ovie isn’t only a sick player, but he’s all about Twitter too. Smart move by the Caps to get him involved - hopefully more pro athletes/organizations will follow suit….great way to make players more “human” and interact with fans.

That’s a SICK column! I don’t know much about Twitter so this was insightful and it’s a great idea by the Caps. I think they have a show debuting on Monday that focuses on the Caps “behind the scenes.”

Great work P. Great idea by the NHL and the perfect player to chose. It speaks volumes that people were asking him questions in Russian for him to reply to. Plus he had more followers than @washcaps which I would wager means fans of other teams wanna keep tabs on the biggest personality in the NHL (sorry Sidney)

I hope he keeps it up down the stretch. And go Caps..

Nice insight Otter, GO CAPS!

Good stuff Pat. Don’t know much about Twitter either, but Ovie’s pulling me in. Sick.
