Blogs with Balls 2.0 at Blogworld New Media Expo
I’m excited to be embarking on a trip today to Blogs with Balls 2.0, a leading-edge conference on the intersection of sports and new media, as part of Blog World and New Media Expo in Las Vegas. This event gathers some of the top sports bloggers, sports media personalities and figures from across the nation to share and learn perspectives on the issues surrounding social media and sports. Kyle Scriven, my teammate here at NMS, attended the first iteration held last June in New York City (you can read about his experience here).
I’ll be speaking on the “Access” panel on Thursday at Blogs with Balls. In short, we will be focused on the access bloggers and social media users are granted by sports teams and leagues, because PR philosophy has undergone a paradigm shift in the last few years. As a former pro sports PR person now working at a social media agency, I have experienced both sides. Other panels featured at Blogs with Balls 2.0 are dedicated to such topics as connecting with fans through social media, the future of sports media, building your brand and growing your bottom line, the state of new media in sports and incorporating multi-platforms in sports.
The conference features Kevin Blackistone (Around the Horn/FanHouse), John Thornton (NCAA All-American, Cincinnati Bengal), Mitch Germann (Sacramento Kings), Amy K. Nelson (ESPN), Bethlehem Shoals (Free Darko), Ken Fuchs (VP, SI Digital), Pete Vlastelica (Yardbarker), Matt Ufford (With Leather, Kissing Suzy Kolber), Greg Wyshynski (Y! Sports’ Puck Daddy), John Karalis (Reds Army), Jamie Mottram (Yahoo Sports/Mister Irrelevant), Dan Levy (Sporting Blog/On the DL Podcast), AJ Daulerio (Deadspin), JE Skeets (Ball Don’t Lie/Yahoo), Jalen Rose (ESPN/ABC, former NBA) and many more.
I’ll be live Tweeting from the event – so if you are interested, follow me @pwixted. You can also follow all the action from @blogswithballs at #bwblv and all the Blogworld buzz at #bwe09.
BwB is going to be an amazing event; it’s exciting to see how much it has grown since the first incarnation. Good luck on your panel.
