BBC America—Doctor Who

The Challenge: To fuel online awareness and positive buzz about the series premiere of Doctor Who and encourage tune-in on Saturday, April 17th to help make it the biggest ratings night in BBC America history.

Execution

  • Primary Tactics: Six week campaign with Digital PR, Messaging and Reporting

Digital PR: NMS disseminated assets, including clips, key art, countdown widgets banners, and exclusive interviews and ran a giveaway for a special edition of Wired magazine with a Doctor Who-related cover.

Messaging: NMS delivered 158 total messages about Doctor Who in vibrant forums and communities.

Reporting: Comprehensively tracked and monitored for buzz about Doctor Who throughout the six-week campaign. 

Results

  • NMS’ efforts led to record-breaking numbers for BBC America as the Doctor Who series premiere debuted as the most watched telecast in network history (1.2 million viewers in live and same day). 
  • Digital PR tactics yielded 105 total live features, reaching an estimated 4,717,000 Unique Users and garnering 24,499,000 Impressions on sites with a combined 35,374,000 Unique Monthly Visitors.
  • Our messaging reached an estimated 1,633,000 Unique Users and garnered 10,634,000 Impressions. 
  • NMS reporting detailed a buzz increase of 371% from the first week to the final, and recorded that NMS’ executions led to a (ridiculously) robust 218,447 total discussions.
